I don’t think we stop discovering new music because of age

I don’t think we stop discovering new music because of age so much as friction. When you’re younger, discovery is built into your day — friends handing you records, random openers, late-night rabbit holes — and later you have to protect that curiosity on purpose. The people I know who still find life-changing records at 40 or 60 treat it like reading: not a phase you age out of, just a habit you keep feeding.
