BrooklynVegan always felt less like a publication and more like the map you passed around after a show — who was playing, which label mattered, what weird little scene was bubbling up in a basement somewhere. Seeing it fade into the larger collapse of music media makes me miss when discovery online still had actual personality instead of being flattened into playlists and feeds.
