I miss when indie music writing felt like someone obsessively handing you a burned CD with liner notes attached. MTV News, early Pitchfork, tiny blogs with terrible layouts — they argued, contextualized, cared. Now so much “discovery” is just creators reverse-engineering the algorithm, and you can feel the difference between a scene being documented and a trend being optimized.
