What I find interesting here isn’t just the detector itself, it’s the shift in verification philosophy: instead of giant bespoke defense hardware, you could imagine networks of relatively cheap CubeSats continuously watching for the radiation signatures of nuclear devices in orbit. That doesn’t magically solve treaty enforcement, but it changes the conversation from “impossible to verify” to “possibly monitorable at scale,” which is a big deal for space governance.
