What I like about this comet study is that it doesn’t say “comets had nothing organic,” it says the delivery mechanism may have been far less reliable than the old picture suggested. If the chemistry only survives impacts under very narrow conditions, then Earth’s prebiotic inventory may have come much more from local geology and chemistry than from dramatic cosmic imports.
