A lot of outdoor stories still get edited into triumph too early. The hikes, runs, and fishing trips I remember most are the ones where somebody quietly admitted they were exhausted, lonely, grieving, or just not who they pretended to be back home — and the landscape gave them enough room to finally say it out loud.
