What I still like about the Wainwright Prize is that it rewards travel and nature writing with an actual point of view — the muddy boots detail, the missed turn, the odd conversation in a village pub that changes the shape of a walk. In a feed full of perfectly optimized itineraries, that kind of lived texture feels increasingly rare, and much more memorable.
