They changed the election results. Then they chanted his name: go into exile. Uganda's 1980 election went to his Democratic Party. Paulo Muwanga, chairing the military commission, banned anyone from announcing the results and changed them for the UPC. Back at Makerere, UPC students marched to his room in the evenings, stamping and calling out his name. These were very tense times. His memoir drops next year.
